New lens

1 min read
Just got a Pentax 50-200mmF4.5-5.6
But there has been storming going on outside so no chance to try it out yet.  If it wasn't rain and lightening, I would go out anyway.
Hoping it clears up some today so I can get outside a little bit after work.
I'm very excited though :)

I took a break for a while from uploading, not intentionally.  Life has just been busy and I haven't had the time to shoot as much.  I think I still have a lot of work to do to take good pictures and probably taking a break is not going to help.  I have switched from manual mode back to Av mode to help more with working on adjusting iso white balance and focus and not having to worry so much about both the f stop and the shutter, just one at a time.  Here in Michigan, it is March and still lots of snow with no end in sight.  I love the snow, but I think my pictures become redundant after a while.  I've also been distracted by work (7 days a week right now) which does not involve photography at all, reading (the Count of Monte Cristo) and my hubby.  I am going to try to make more time for photography as the seasons start to change, it will eventually warm up (so they say) at this point I would be happy with 20 oF after all the single digit and below 0 temps.  Though I have to admit those clear cold days are great for outside shooting, the sky is sooo blue and it's so calm, but after a while the fingers stop working as well.

New Camera :D

1 min read
I did get my new camera, I'm still learning how to use it though.
This (Pentax K-3) is my first SLR so I have a lot to learn.
I really enjoy it so far though, I love being able to change the focus manually, before I couldn't do that, I had to put what I wanted focused on in the center of the camera while half pressing the shutter, and then frame before fully pressing.
Annnd if it's not cloudy tonight and tomorrow Northern lights are supposed to be in the area, so hopefully I can get some pictures of that.
My tripod is not very good, it has a loose part so if I'm not aiming horizontal, it tends to tip all the way up...
It's the next thing to be replaced, then new lenses.
If you happen to read this, let me know what lenses you like the best for your photography.
I shoot mostly scapes, and nature.  If you browse my gallery you will see my very typical shots.

Actually getting the Pentax K-3 instead--it's a better and newer version.
Hubby approved extra funds for it :D

I think I am going to get the Pentax K30 it has pretty good specs, and I can almost afford it, I'll have to save up for a bit, but that is doable.
16.5 mp, IS, 1/6000 min 30sec max shutter,f3.5-f5.6 with the included 18-55mm lens, and COLDPROOF.
I haven't had one in my hands yet, just read reviews and looked at pictures.  I'm going to see if my "local" camera shop has one in stock if I ever am not at work when they are open, they have short hours.
